Java supports the following Microsoft Windows Platforms (and probably more):

- Windows 2000 Professional
- Windows 2000 Server
- Windows 2000 Advanced Server

To run our program on your Windows computer successfully, you must have a JAVA^TM Runtime Environment (JRE), version 1.4.2_xx, on your computer. The latest 1.4.2 version is 1.4.2_18.

It is easy to tell if you already have it, and if you don't, it is just as easy to download it to your computer. To determine if you have or need the correct Java version, follow the instructions below:

1. Open a windows command prompt by making the following selections on you computer:

Start=>Programs=>Accessories=>Command Prompt

At the prompt, type java -version, and press Enter. You should see a screen similar to this:

The first line indicates the java version: if your version is 1.4.2_xx, then your in great shape, click below:

If your version is less then 1.4.2_xx, or more than 1.4 (like 1.5 or 1.6), then click the button below, and follow the instructions to download the 1.4.2 JRE to you computer.
